چکیده

Long-slit observations of the blue compact galaxy Haro 2 have been performed around Hα and Hβ. The main aim of these observations was to detect the Hα emission originating in the partially ionized wind outflow-ing at 200 km/s, that had been previously detected with the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). A shallow broadening of the Hα line wings has been observed, consistent with the existence of an expanding shell. The rotation curve shows two dips at the same systemic velocity as the nucleus. We interpret this feature as an evidence that the expanding shell is decoupled from the disk rotation. At the positions of the dips the Hα line is clearly broadened with respect to the central core. This broadening is produced by the outer layers of the expanding shell. From the position of these dips we estimate the size of the shell to be around 20 " in diameter, with a corresponding kinematical age between 5 and 6 Myr. This shell has most certainly been powered by the massive star formation process that takes place in the central region of this galaxy. A comparison of the Hα and Lyα profiles shows that Lyα is significantly broader than Hα, with an additional emission in the red wing. We interpret this redshifted source of Lyα emission as line pho-tons backscattered by the receding part of the expanding shell. These observations outline the extremely high sensitivity of the Lyα line to the structure and kinematics of the interstellar medium (ISM). Finally the analysis of stellar Balmer lines in the Hβ region indicates that stars less massive than 10 M⊙ have probably been formed.

Photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue from aqueous solution using Fe3O4@SiO2@CeO2 core-shell magnetic nanostructure as an effective catalyst

In the present study, the core-shell magnetic nanostructure of Fe3O4@SiO2@CeO2 was synthesized to investigate its use as an effective photocatalyst for methylene blue removal. The prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The photocatalytic activity for the Fe3O4@SiO2@CeO2 core-shell magneti...

Structural, Optical and Magnetic Feature of Core-Shell Nanostructured Fe3O4@GO in Photocatalytic Activity

In this paper, structural, magnetic, optical, and photocatalytic properties of core-shell structure Fe3O4@GO nanoparticles have been compared with Fe3O4 nanoparticles in the degradation of methyl blue and methyl orange. For this purpose, GO nanosheets were wrapped around the APTMS-Fe3O4 nanoparticles and then charact...

Two Ring Nebulae around Blue Supergiants in the Large Magellanic Cloud

Ring nebulae are often found around massive stars such as Wolf-Rayet stars, OB and Of stars and Luminous Blue Variables (LBVs). In this paper we report on two ring nebulae around blue supergiants in the Large Magellanic Cloud. The star Sk−69 279 is classified as O9f and is surrounded by a closed shell with a diameter of 4.5 pc. Our echelle observations show an expansion velocity of 14 kms and a...

Starburst dwarfs - fueling and morphological evolution

The effects of mergers in low mass galaxies are poorly understood. In this paper we analyze different observational evidences which support the view that mergers can trigger starbursts in dwarf galaxies. We discuss the relationships between blue compact galaxies (BCGs), dIs, dEs and low surface brightness galaxies (LSBGs) and present some evidences which favour that strong starbursts are caused...
